  • A little something extra for Children in Need!

    Thu 12 Nov 2020

    Dear parent/carer,

    Children in Need 2020

Tomorrow is our Children in Need celebration and we are all looking forward to spreading a little happiness in the school by wearing pyjamas or spotty outfits.

This morning on the yard I was asked by several parents/carers if we would allow them to wear their pyjamas and donate a pound too as they wanted to do their bit. We all thought this was a lovely idea and so if you want to wear your pyjamas or spotty outfits tomorrow when dropping your child off at school please do. We all need a bit of fun and for a very good cause. Year 6 are disappointed that they are unable to try to beat their whopping £890 collection last year from their sponsored gameathon and so this will help lift their spirits too knowing that their families are getting involved.

Please do not feel in any way obliged to take part. This is purely voluntary and just a little bit of fun to end our week. We look forward to seeing you and I thank those of you who approached me for this lovely community spirited idea.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

    Fiona Gibbard

    Children in Need 2020

    Children in Need is back!

Children in Need’s vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy, secure and allows them the chance to reach their potential.

We know what a tough year this has been and we also know how important it is to look after ourselves and each other. For this reason, Children in Need are focusing on Mental health and well- being this year. Our theme for the day will be ‘kindness’ as Friday is also ‘World Kindness Day” Everyone will be encouraged to do at least one act of kindness throughout the day and will talk about them together at the end of the school day in their classrooms.

We at Gors are asking that everyone pays £1 to join in with the fundraising and wear pyjamas or something spotty on Friday 13th November.

Thank you for your continued support

LETTER FROM SCHOOL NURSE REGARDING FLU VACCINES

Our school nurses will look different this year when they visit pupils to give them the annual flu vaccine nasal spray.

Instead of wearing normal clothes, they will be wearing scrubs and personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a mask and face visor.

This is in line with national Covid-19 infection prevention guidance.

As the PPE significantly alters the nurses’ appearance and may be off-putting for some children, we have produced a show and tell video to help familiarise the children with the new arrangements.

In the three-minute video school nurse Sian Richards directly addresses primary school pupils in simple terms, explaining clearly why she and her colleagues will be wearing these funny outfits.

She also demonstrates the nasal spray for those who haven’t had it before.

We hope the video will prepare the pupils, helping them to feel more comfortable on the day the vaccinators visit.

This video will be shown in class but for any who may have missed it please use the link above.

Flu vaccines will take place on 27.11.20
