Useful Websites to access at home.
These websites all have a Literacy or Numeracy focus. They are short and snappy games, aimed at allowing the children to practice basic skills taught in class. Please encourage the children to use a range of these games for short bursts. They can all be accessed from any device, that is able to access the internet.

Our Topic – ‘Abertawe Adventures’
In Progression Step 2, we are going to be learning about our local area of Swansea/Abertawe.
We have recieved an email from the ‘Swansea Tourist board,’ explaining that due to the impact that the Covid pandemic has had on the tourist industry, they are looking to attract families to Swansea—for their summer holidays and need our help. They have heard that we are a school which is creative,, diverse and based in the heart of the city—can we help them to publicise and celebrate all that Swansea has to offer.
We are also looking forward to continuing our PE lessons, every Friday afternoon! These lessons will be taught by Miss McClean, we follow the Real PE scheme - it is great fun and keeps us fit and active.
We will also be continuing our 'Friendship Friday' sessions, we enjoy working and learning together.
We will have many visitors coming into school to help us learn about this new and exciting topic. We will interview a nutritionist, a GP, our school nurse and a dentist!! We can't wait we have so many questions to ask!!
Here are some examples of the Questions we are going to investigate through our topic!
- What is the population of Swansea?
- What is Swansea most famous for?
- What are the main benefits of living in Swansea?
- What is the main history behind the shaping of Swansea?
Missions
Our Missions are opportunities for us to work independently. During our 'RAP' time on a Friday, we discuss which 'Missions', we would like to complete the following week. The 'Missions', must build on the learning which has taken place during focussed teaching time. 'Missions' allow us to develop independence, confidence, resilience and to develop cooperation skills. An example of our 'Mission' planning is below.
Important Events for the Spring Term;
-St Dwynwen's Day - 28.01.23
- Children's Mental Health Week - 13.02.23
- Safer Internet Day - 14.02.23
- National Handwriting Day - 10.02.23
- St Davids Day 01.03.23 - We can wear red/traditional Welsh costume. We are going to be learning about the story of St David.
- World Book Day 02.03.23 - We will be celebrating our love for books and stories, we are very excited to dress up as our favourite character and share stories with our friends!
Keep an eye on Twitter and Dojo for some photos of our learning and fun!
Weekly Timetable
Monday
Friday
Please make every effort to read at home with your child. Just a page or two a day will be really beneficial and help your child to develop their reading skills. Reading books can be brought into school daily, and we will try our best to find five minutes for individual readers. Reading books will be changed around once per week, if we feel your child needs a new book. There may be occasions where reading books will be sent home for more practise, this will be communicated in your child's reading record.
Home learning books are sent home on Fridays and should be returned to school for marking on the following Monday. This is a chance for you to engage in some learning activities at home with your child, and builds on learning, which has been completed in class.
As always, any questions at all please let us know and we will do our very best to help.
We hope you enjoy the photos below, they are an example of the fun activities we have enjoyed in Y3R.
