Staff Well Being

At Gors Community School, the well being of our staff is very important to us.

We have many initiatives and methods of support in place. We are always warm, friendly and welcoming to all. Ensuring that everyone has a sense of belonging and that we promote a positive and caring ethos.

- The Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher award weekly postcards to members of staff who have shown kindness, dedication and care within their role. The postcards contain a personal message to thank the colleague for their actions.

- The Mug of Kindness - This 'mug' is filled with treats, it is awarded amongst our colleagues as an act of kindness.

- Our staff reward system - each week in our staff meeting, the name of a member of staff is chosen and then they can choose a reward from the pot, this could be a coffee from the Head Teacher or even cover for a play time duty!

- We also ensure staff feel valued and appreciated at all times. We are on hand to listen and support each other each day.

Long Term Sick Employee Support Group

As part of the Authorities Corporate Health, Safety and Wellbeing Action Plan 2022 to 24, a number of new groups are being formed to support Employees, through the provision of advice, information and signposting to further support where appropriate. Please note this group is for employees to attend not Managers.

The first of these new initiatives, the Long Term Sickness Employee Support Group continues on the 22nd

September, 12th October and 16th November 2022, 10am – 11am, remotely via Teams.

Support groups can give staff the opportunity to openly and confidentially discuss the challenges they’ve experienced during sickness absence in an informal manner, receive advice and information, and shared experience of others in the hope of helping to return employees to the workplace in a supportive manner.

If you would like to take part in this group then please email your name and employee number or date of birth to occhealth.teama@swansea.gov.uk so that a Teams invite can be sent to you.

If you do not have access to Teams please, let us know when you email so details of how to access the group, remotely from any smartphone, tablet or laptop can be provided free of charge.
