Year 3/4 - Miss Evans

Croeso i flwyddyn 3/4!

Welcome to Year 3/4!

Croeso! Welcome to our class page.

Here we will keep you updated on what's going on in Year 3/4 and any upcoming events smiley

Our termly Newsletters are further down this page and also on the Newsletter Page of the website.

This half term our topic continues to be 'Dinosaurs'. Last half term we enjoyed learning lots of new facts and information. We were very lucky to have a Dinosaur Workshop to introduce this fun topic and look at artefacts and a Dinosaur simulation.

We've also had plenty of opportunities to develop our numeracy and literacy skills through the topic, and have designed our own 'Top Trump' cards and a database. We've made comparisons between the Jurassic period and our own, and located dinosaurs around the world.

Online National Numeracy Assessment 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This year, the Welsh Assembly Government have changed the way in which schools in Wales use the results of Numeracy and Literacy test data. In the past the results have been used as a test of pupils’ ability and overall performance. This has now changed and ‘assessments’ are now being used to inform teachers and learners and identify areas in each subject where pupils need to improve – this is called ‘formative’ assessment.

For the first time in numeracy, the procedural assessment will take place online. In Reasoning and Reading, the assessment will be in written format. Pupils from years 2-5 will be completing their online numeracy assessment on the week beginning 18th February. The Reading and Reasoning assessment will take place in May (Dates to be confirmed).

If you have any further questions about the National Numeracy Assessment, then please feel free to contact myself at school.

TT rockstars and Giglets

The above 2 programms are fantastic in helping your child to become a better reader and more confident with their times tables. It would be great to encourage them to use both of these at home as much as possible! Below are the quick links to get onto these website..
