Welcome to Daffodils class page!

We have had an amazing start to the year, and have been enjoying getting to know each other, making new friends and exploring our new classroom. 

Autumn Term

This term our topic is ‘Hip Hip Hooray!’ Where we will explore lots of different celebrations, from across the world. In our literacy lessons we will be focussing on learning sounds, and practising our blending and reading skills. We will look at invitation writing, as well as lists and cards. In maths we will be doing lots of number work, using Numicon and concrete resources to help our understanding – we will also be getting plenty of number formation practise and moving on to working with much bigger numbers! We will also be continuing our weekly music lessons with the fantastic Mrs Ferguson, so we have lots to look forward to. 

A few reminders: 

Fruit - Pupils are allowed a fruit snack after play time, they can either bring a piece of fruit to school or buy a piece of fruit for 30p. 
 

Water - Pupils have school water bottles now, that are labelled and kept in class for constant access to drinking water - so there is no need for any other drinks to be brought it, unless part of a packed lunch. 

P.E - P.E is on a Friday this term, pupils should come to school in comfortable clothing and suitable footwear - trainers. 

Clothing - All clothing and bags should be labelled with your child's name - you'd be surprised at how easily things can go missing! So we would appreciate your support with this. 

Coats - We are hoping to spend a lot of time outdoors, so pupils will need to have a suitable coat in school with them - labelled with their name. 

Reading books - Once we have issued the new set of books and reading records, they should be returned once per week for us to read with your child and give them a new book if necessary. Reading for 5/10 minutes at home daily will support your child's reading ability immensely!

I will also be using dojo to communicate any important messages, so please keep an eye on the app. If you need support accessing ClassDojo, please let me know and I'll do my best to help you.
