What is Siarter Iaith?

The Siarter Iaith, is a project introduced by the Welsh Assembly to all schools in Wales, to promote the Welsh language, to develop a Welsh ethos and encourage pupils to improve their Welsh language skills. The Charter provides a framework for schools to follow in order to achieve the awards. 

 

Our Aim:

Our aim is to achieve the Bronze Siarter Iaith award this year! Criw Cymraeg are working hard to promote the Welsh language throughout the School and create a warm Welsh ethos. In order to achieve the award, we have 100 targets to meet!!! Some of these targets include:

  • Establishing a visual Welsh ethos
  • Promoting the advantages of learning Welsh
  • Using  Welsh within the classroom
  • Using Welsh outside the classroom
  • Using Welsh in assembles 
  • Using Welsh apps and websites 
  • Taking part in Welsh enrichment activities
  • Developing Welsh reading
  • Using Welsh across the curriculum 
  • Having a positive Welsh attitude
