These websites all have a Literacy or Numeracy focus. They are short and snappy games, aimed at allowing the children to practice basic skills taught in class. Please encourage the children to use a range of these games for short bursts. They can all be accessed from any device, that is able to access the internet.

Our Topic – 'We Are the Champions'

In PS3 this term we will be looking at how we can be champions of Health, Well-being and Exercise.

Weekly Timetable

Monday

  • Reading Records to be returned to school
  • New Home Learning (every 3 weeks) and spelling words (weekly) sent home

Wednesday

  • PE – please come dressed appropriately

Friday

  • Spelling tests
  • Home Learning to be returned to school (after 3-week block)

Please make every effort to read at home with your child. Just a page or two a day will be beneficial in helping your child to develop their reading skills. Reading books can be brought into school daily, and we will try our best to find five minutes for individual readers. Reading books will be changed around once per week, if we feel your child needs a new book.

Summer Term

The final term is upon us in Year 6! This fills us with pride and joy at the children's past experiences, excitement (and slight trepidation!) for the upcoming transition into Secondary School, and of course fond thoughts of all the friendships formed, time shared and memories made throughout the children's time at Gors: it's going to be an eventful term!

Our Topic in Years 5 and 6 this upcoming term in 'We Are The Champions' - an apt final topic for our soon-to-be leavers! We will focus on how we champion Health, Well-Being and Exercise across the school, and will use this knowledge to help us plan our Sports' Day, Enterprise Project, and finally - our Year 6 Leavers' Production!

We will also, of course, be celebrating the King's Coronation along with the rest of the nation! We will complete loads of activities in class, as well as throwing a fantastic Tea Party for all the children! It will be a day to remember!

Life in Year 6

This past spring term has been jam-packed with exciting, authentic learning opportunities for our Year 6 learners!

As part of our topic, 'I have a Dream', we were thrilled to be able to visit the Cerebra Team at Swansea University, and learn more about their ground breaking work designing and making innovative products to help disabled children across Swansea. This visit had helped inspire the children on their own journey to make a Sensory Garden in Gors School.

We have enjoyed the fabulous, authentic experience of Cookery Classes at Dylan Thomas as part of Year 6 Transition. Not only has this helped the children with a smooth transition to secondary school, but has started to provide the children with essential skills which will stay with them for life! Not to mention the delicious dishes we have made!

Our learners across both Years 5 and 6 came together to orchestrate a wonderful evening for parents, in which they displayed their artwork and raised money to go towards our Sensory Garden. It was a huge success, and the children were rightfully extremely proud of their efforts!

Music has become an important and indispensable way of life in Year 6, due to the expertise of our Marvellous Mrs Ferguson. She, and they, put together a lovely Eisteddfod for our recent St David's Day, in which the children show-cased not just their singing talents, but their beautiful dancing too.

As you can see -we have been very busy in Year 6!
