Croeso i Dosbarth Dragons!
Welcome to Dragons class page!

Mrs Reeves is our class teacher and  Miss McClean, Mrs Thomas and Miss Seabright are our lovely TA's

Our classroom is a bright, stimulating and welcoming space where everyone  is respected and encouraged to do their very best.

Our classroom is divided up into the following ‘areas’,  Numeracy, Literacy, reading, calm, construction, sand and water, creative, mark making, welsh and role play area.  When we are not learning in our focus, adult-led groups, we are encouraged to work independently on our 'rainbow challenges' within these areas of our classroom to practise and consolidate previously learnt skills.

We have had an fantastic start to the year, and have been enjoying getting to know each other, making new friends and exploring our new classroom.

Autumn Term

This term our topic is ‘Hip Hip Hooray!’ Where we will be celebrating our wonderful selves, famous people as well as exploring lots of different celebrations, from across the world. We will also be continuing our weekly music lessons with the fantastic Mrs Ferguson on a Thursday.

Literacy

In our literacy lessons we will be focussing on recognising and forming our s,a,t,p,i,n sounds, and recognising an d writing our names. We will look at invitation writing, as well as lists and cards.

Please find some useful Jolly Phonics  and cursive letter formation songs, rhymes and resources that we use in class that you can use  to help your child at home.

In numeracy we will be doing lots of number work, using Numicon and concrete resources to help our understanding. We will also be learning to form and write our numbers 0-9 correctly and moving on to working with much bigger numbers! We will be using lots of different multi-sensory such as playdoh, shaving foam, paint, rice and sand to practise forming and writing our cursive letters and numbers.

School Times

We love seeing our little ‘Dragons’ everyday. Please try your best to arrive and collect on time. We open our door at 8.40am and close it at 9am. The school day ends at 3.20pm.

Snack

Fruit is sold at a cost of 30p a day. Alternatively you can send in fruit with your child but please ensure that it is clearly marked with their name. If you choose to send in grapes, please ensure to cut them in half lengthways.

We now have our very own school water bottles so we do not need to have additional bottles in school, unless we are having sandwiches.

School uniform and clothing

Please can you make sure that your children’s clothing is clearly labelled with their name as we do not want anything to get lost!

PE

We will be doing PE on a Thursday. The children will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

ClassDojo

ClassDojo is our main form of communication at Gors, you can contact me via message and I will get back to you ASAP. I will also be using dojo to communicate any important messages, so please keep an eye on there.

Myself and the Dragons team are really looking forward to teaching your child this year!
