We hope you had a lovely and relaxing half term. We will be continuing with our ‘Castles and Dragons, topic this half term. We will be busy researching and exploring famous castles in Wales.

School Trip

Kidwelly Castle

Tuesday 9th April 2019

We will be going to Kidwelly Castle on Tuesday 9th. Please can you make sure your child either brings a packed lunch on this day or you order a grab bag by filling in and returning the permission slip which is at the bottom of the trip letter. Please can you make sure the children wear suitable clothing and footwear for the trip as we will be doing lots of walking.

Literacy

During our oracy lessons we will be focusing on reciting rhymes and poems using rhythm and rhyme. We will also be creating a presentation on ‘How to train a dragon’ and presenting our fantastic work. We will be continuing to build on our Jolly Phonics sounds using the songs and actions. In our writing we will be learning to write an information pamphlet on how to train a Dragon. How exciting! We will also be learning to write a recount of our castle trip.

This half term in maths we will be focusing on weight, 2, 5 and 10 times tables, number bonds, doubling and halving, addition, subtraction and division.

TT Rockstars: Well done to those children who have logged in and are practising their times tables on TT rock stars at home - your hard work has been noticed :) Keep learning!

Important Information

Reading Books

Thank you for your continued support with your child’s reading. Please ensure that your child has their book bag and reading record in school every day. Please write in the record book when you listen to your child read as your comments are really helpful. Sharing a book at a quiet time is brilliant to help support your son's or daughter's reading skills.

Homework

Homework and spellings will be sent home on a Friday and returned to school on a Wednesday.

P.E

We take part in PE on a Monday. Please ensure that your child has a PE kit in school (a t-shirt and a pair of shorts, leggings or joggers) with their name on ready for us to take part in our sessions.

Snack

Snack is £1.25 per week and the children are offered a range of healthy fruit. Please bring this every Monday.

If you have any questions please see me in the morning or at the end of the day once all the children have been safely dismissed.

Many Thanks
Mrs Reeves
