Croseo i’r Blwyddyn 1/2J – Welcome to Year 1/2J!

Welcome to Year 1/2J, progression step 1&2 and the beginning of what I hope will be a happy and enjoyable year in school.  The children have done incredibly well at learning the school routines and boundaries and have settled in amazingly.

Literacy

We shall be continuing with Jolly Phonics, revising and learning new sounds and their formation each week.

Oxford Reading and Jolly Phonics books will also be sent home in the next couple of weeks.

How to help at home:

We ask that you find a quiet ten minutes everyday to look at a book with your child. The more you read and talk about stories, the more confident your child will feel about handling books.

1: Number Spotting – can be done anywhere! Talk about the numbers you see when you are out and about.

2: Number Hunt – Hide some cut out numbers and see if your child can find them around the house.

Here is some general information about our class.

In Year 1/2, the children will be encouraged to be more independent, not only in their learning but also personally.

• They will be responsible for emptying their book bags each day and collecting their belongings to take home at the end of the day.
• Please ensure that their belongings are clearly labelled with their name (water bottles, fruit/fruit pots, jumpers, cardigans and coats) as they will be easier to track down if anything gets misplaced.

I encourage you to speak to myself if you have any questions or concerns, however, to give you the time that you deserve, please wait till the end of the school day or message me on Dojo.
