Welcome to Year 1 - Mr Roberts!

Croeso i flwyddyn 1!

Thank you for looking at our class page, over the coming weeks we will be posting lots of pictures and links to pages which you can access at home to help your child continue their learning at home.

Our topic this term has been 'At The Museum'  and we have been learning about the past and how things have changed over time. The class really enjoyed finding out that some people used to have to go outside to get to the toilet! We have played with old toys which we have investigated in the tuff trays in our class, we have also really got excited about finding out fun facts about dinosaurs.

Our topic will come to a climax his week with our trip to Swansea Museum with Rec/Year1 on Wednesday, we will be having a workshop and a fun morning exploring this great local museum. If you haven't sent your consent forms and money into school yet please could you send it in by Tuesday at the latest.

We do take lots of pictures in our class which show the children learning in the different areas of our classroom.

We have been learning about symmetry and symmetrical patterns in maths  so we have practised what we have learnt using ICT in our classroom.

Our Classroom

In the Foundation Phase (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) classrooms are laid out around continuous provision areas, children develop their skills in these areas and learn through play.  In our classroom we have these areas:-

• Creative Area
• ICT/Digital Area 
• Storytelling Area
• Roleplay Area 
• Construction Area
• Investigation/Finding Out Area
• Small World Area
• Writing Area
• Playdough Area
• Numeracy/Maths Area

Each week 'enhanced activities' are planned in these areas which enable the children to develop their skills and consolidate their learning from the previous week.
