A big warm welcome to the children who will be in Dosbarth Pen Y Fan this year. We hope that you are all ready to work hard and ready to have lots of fun in our happy, caring class!
We look forward to working closely with parents in order to support every pupil to reach their full potential.
Please don't hesitate to contact me by DOJO if you have any concerns or positive feedback.

Information for Parents
Reading
Please ensure that your child has their reading book and reading record with them everyday.
Spelling
Your child will be coming home with their spellings. Please practise these spellings with them, encouraging them to use them orally in a sentence. We will test them in school on a Friday, once your child is secure in those spellings they will move on and we will send home the next Jolly Phonics spelling list.
Tricky Words
Your child will also be introduced to tricky words, words that can not be sounded out. This is to help them improve and develop their sight-reading skills and become more familiar with high frequency words. We aim for them to recognise these words quickly and encourage them to read them aloud to help with recognition. There are songs to help with this on the Youtube link below.
Alphabet Phonics Song (youtube.com)
TTRS (Times Table Rockstars)
Your child will be sent home their TTRS password.
Please encourage them to practice daily, just 5 minutes a day can really help improve their times tables.
We wil be focusing on our 2's, 5's and 10's initially.
