Some of our learning in Oxwich class
Summer Term in Oxwich
Our topic during the summer term is 'Slimy Stuarts'. We will be learning about the major events during this very busy time in British history e.g. great fire of London, plague, gunpowder plot. Comparing events to present day.
Working together as a team to make a scene and characters, using them to create a short animation of one of the events. Children will be using the app ‘Stop Motion’.
See some of our exciting learning below.
We started our new topic by using a discovering box containing items linked to our topic. The children then had to make predictions on our what our topic title might be.
This week in Oxwich in Maths we have learning about money. The children have learnt how to pay for totals and calculate change. The children were also excellent at using the skills they learnt to complete some tricky reasoning problems.
This week we have learning how to calculate the perimeter & area in Maths. We learnt about the plague as part of our topic the 'Slimy Stuarts'. Also, we created some great artwork based on the great fire of London.
W.C 3.6.24
This week we have been busy getting ready for sports day, practising some of the events that we will be taking part in next week.
We have also enjoyed putting the finishing touches to our 'Stuart Scenes'. We will be using them to create our stock motion videos next week.
Our focus in Maths this week has been fractions. We have been focusing on recognising fractions of a shape and calculating fractions of amounts.
Below are QR codes for our amazing stop motion animations based on significant events in the Stuart era. The kids did worked so hard and did so well!!
