Summer term

Topic: 'Going for Gold'- The Olympics

This term We will be learning all about the Olympics. We will start by researching the history of the Olympics. Where did it all start? We will talk about Olympic Sports linking it to Health and Wellbeing. Where will the Olympics be held this year? We will be learning about Paris and other cities that have held the Olympics. We will plan our own little Olympics. Of course, this will lead us nicely into our annual sports day at school!! 

Spring: The Celts 

This term, we have been learning all about the celts. We had a fantastic workshop held in the hall about the celts. We looked at artefacts used by the celts, we depressed up, and had a great discussion about Celtic times.

We carried out lots of learning about Celtic houses, Celtic food, Celtic kind and Queens, The Druids and how Celts,went into battle. 

We have loved this topic!! 

Autumn Term: 

Language, Literacy and Communication

In literacy, we will be looking at recount writing over the next few weeks, We will be exploring the features of the genre, and learn how to write our own diary entries.  We will take part in plenty of shared reading and writing to help us. We will be continuing learning our Jolly Phonics sounds and practice blending to read cvc and cvc words.

Mathematics and Numeracy

In maths, we will be focussing on lots of number work this term. We will be doing lots of work with Numicon and number squares to reinforce our knowledge of place value. We will be doing lots of practical activities alongside our written work.

Topic:To Boldly Go….

This terms topic is all about space. We will be exploring the solar system and finding out facts about the stars, moons, planets, asteroids and comets. We shall also be looking at who invented the telescope and how they work.  We shall be asking how do astronauts explore space today and who was the first to land on the moon.
