Autumn Term Topic : 'Everyone Together'

Throughout this term, the children will be familiarising themselves with their learning environment, class routines and expectations, and will focus on the importance of prioritising their wellbeing.

They will consider what it means to be part of an inclusive and diverse community, and learn the skills of maintaining healthy relationships. We will then go onto study Art through the medium of self-portraits.

In Literacy, the children will be studying Narrative Writing by following the Pie Corbett process.

In Numeracy, the children will be looking at Place Value and the Four Operations, as well as ensuring we practice out Times Tables on a daily basis.

Spring Term Topic: ‘It's a Wonderful Life!'

We will explore our garden and the local area to discover what living things make Wales their home. We will study the human body and consider what we need to live, as well as think about our place in the world, and finally we will investigate the Lungs of the Earth: the Rainforests! In Literacy we will be studying Dialogue Writing by following the Pie Corbett process In Numeracy we will be looking at Multiplication and Division, as well as squared and cubed numbers, so we really must practice our Times Tables on a daily basis.

At Home

-Please make every effort to read at home with your child daily, even for just 10 minutes a day. The children will be given Reading books which should be brought into school daily, and the children will be read with as often as possible.

-Allow children time to write in the house, this could be helping write the shopping list, write a card, write a story together.  The most practice children have writing the more confidence they will get.

-Ensure children complete their home learning tasks, this gives you a chance to engage in some learning activities at home with your child, and builds on learning, which has been completed in class.

-Children could also complete any of these 'Daily Do's' to help support their learning journey:

-Practicing spellings of high frequency words.

-Practicing handwriting, recognising and writing letters of the alphabet (Lower and Uppercase)

-Practicing times tables.

-Sharing a story
