This term our topic is called –‘Everyone Together’
Throughout the term the children will be: -Getting to know each other, learning about positive relationships and what affects our own wellbeing. -Learning about cultures and religions within the community, celebrating our similarities and differences. -Exploring the book ‘Here we are’, Create a movie/film presentation on matter and the way it behaves on our planet. -Finishing off by creating a collective piece of art in the style of Chuck Close, linked to book ‘The dot’. Teaching the children that by working together we can achieve great things.
Home Learning
Children have multiple choice where they have to choose and complete activities in their red ‘Home Learning’ books. These need to be returned to school every 3 weeks.
Times tables – please continue to support your child to learn all of their times tables at home. The children will be using Times Table Rockstars in class, which they can use at home! There is also a great game on the Topmarks website called ‘Hit the Button’
Reading
Please, can you make sure your child brings their reading book to school every day as we listen to the children read as much as we can throughout the week. It is important that you try to listen to your child read every night. Please can you comment and write in your child’s reading record when you have listened to them read. We understand that there may be times when you are unable to hear your child read, please still bring the reading book along with the reading record to school as we can listen to your child read.
Spelling
Spellings will be sent home on a Friday. Please help your child to learn their weekly spellings, ready for their spelling test the following Friday.
Fruit- Children can bring in fruit every day to have had play time. Alternatively, you can pay £1.50 for the week (30p a day) for your child to have fruit from school.
P.E- Our P.E day will be a Wednesday. Could children please come dressed appropriately on this day, wearing trainers to help with their participation.
