Sunshine Room - Mrs Walton and Mrs Bing

At Gors Community School, we are very lucky to have the Sunshine Room provision. The purpose of our facility is to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as social and emotional difficulties. It allows learners to access the support they need while still benefiting from a mainstream environment. The facility is staffed by an experienced Lead Specialist in ASD and supported by a highly trained Teaching Assistant.

The Sunshine Room is a nurturing environment with a range of specialist resources and activities tailored to support children who attend the provision. During sessions, children are completing class based activities as well as working on their individual targets. The Sunshine Room also has it's very own Sensory Room which is complete with bubble lights, soft furnishings and other sensory equipment!

Additionally, Mrs Walton and Mrs Bing provide in class support, observations, strategies and interventions to promote inclusion and effectively support children and staff within a mainstream setting.
