Welcome to Nursery!
Spring Term
We are looking forward to starting the spring term and continuing our Nursery learning journey. Last term we settled into Nursery and got to know classroom routines, rules and expectations. We did lots of work on developing our personal and social skills. We are now ready to develop our knowledge and understanding about the world around us even further.
This term our topic is ‘On our travels’ this topic focuses on place. We will exploring our school grounds. We will be following routes and clues to find treasure, using our senses and finding out about new materials along the way. Our focus story in literacy is ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We will be listening to, joining in and retelling this story ourselves. We will continue to learn our Jolly phonics songs and explore mark making. In numeracy, we will continue working on basic number skills and explore direction and movement in a fun and simple way.
Rhyme of the Week:
This term we will introduce, learn and sing a ‘rhyme a week’. We will be following a Welsh Government initiative called ‘Pori Drwy Stori’. This programme intends to teach and encourage pupils to learn and use rhymes to enhance their literacy skills. A more detailed letter about this will follow, including lovely resources you can use at home. We hope that you will engage and use these resources with your children to learn and use the rhymes.

Children can bring a piece of fruit and drink of water to School every day for snack time- Please ensure these are labelled.
